Wildlife
The chicks are taking to the sky! Many of the older gulls have been taking advantage of the recent strong winds and getting some good flight time in. The three chicks by the main house path pictured below are only a handful of the young’ns hopping about all over the place. I watched this one stay off the ground for a solid few seconds during a particularly strong gust.
- The chicks in front of the main house are all starting to get somewhere!
- This ridge on the Northeast corner of the rocks is great for catching a strong breeze.
- As the birds get ready to take flight, the sea lions are starting to settle in.
Facility notes
– Cleaned panels
– Water desalination
-Generator fuel check
The jetty fence faced its first challenger this afternoon. I watched as a California sea lion braved the section next to the boat ramp, moved along the length of the jetty, and jumped off the end into the water, taking a bit of the fence with him. The spot fixes have already begun!
- It’s getting to be a busy spot.
