Spent my first afternoon on the rock getting oriented with the animals and the fencing. The water sample was the first order of business, as I took over about 30 minutes before the sample time. The first order of business was telling one of my new friends that they needed to vacate the jetty so that I could get to the sampling location. They knew they needed to move, and it didn’t take much cajoling.
I walked the fence and made sure everything was set correctly, then went into the house to unpack my stuff and settle in. Later I went out to do some work and one silly sealion was in the middle of the jetty! I tried to gently coax him back into the water, interested in how he got there. He didn’t go slowly, and took out the fence. Now I had a repair to do…such is life.
