The vessel “Chinook Spirit” passed at high speed through the Reserve, maneuvered unnecessarily in the main current channel and blasted its horn while in close proximity to harbour seals.
Three OBMG boats were found to be fishing in the Reserve through the day. Pedder Bay Marina was notified of each incident and sent a staff member to intercept the vessels.
Blasting occurred at DND Rocky Point today. Numerous blasts were heard throughout the day including several spaced at intervals less than 10 minutes apart. Some sets of detonations also occurred in series of three. This activity does not conform to the guidelines laid out on the RR website.

A small zodiac with 3 persons on board approached within 100 metres to sealions on the NE haulout.
A small zodiac with two gentlemen on board was found to be fishing near West Race. The station vessel was launched and the Eco-Guardian communicated the RCA rules. The gentlemen were unaware of the rules. They also informed the Eco-Guardian that they had dropped a crab pot near West Race but had subsequently lost it as their line was too short. There were 0 visitors to the island today.

The MV Eaglewing of Eagle Wing Tours entered the Reserve while orcas were active within the Reserve.

A low-flying Canadian Search and Rescue helicopter flew over the south side of the Reserve.

Ryan and I have spotted at least four black oystercatcher nests on the rocky shoreline in the last few days. The total egg count between all nests is nine.
