  • a few ecotours went by today
  • Guy and Travis took a couple groups of students for a cruise around the island, unfortunately it was too shallow for them to dock so they went around in the boats

Ecological

  • Only counted 11 elephant seals today, one might be hiding in the rocks on the east side though
  • the seagulls are building their nests but no eggs yet

  • not many sea lions around lately, some stellars on the south rocks and a few californias on the jetty

Final Exam

  • a few ecotours went by today
  • Lauras marine science class had their final exam here today which was about 45 students so that was fun

Ecological

  • about a dozen elephant seals, one male still here, the rest female
  • I am so sure I got the final goose nest today and am hopefully done addling

  • a few ecotours went by today
  • Guy, came by with a few guys to start moving out the old batteries so the new batteries will hopefully be lifted off the concrete soon and we won’t have to run the generator as much

  • Guy also came by to pick up the students that stayed in the student house lastnight

  • a lot of ecotours along with sailboats and fishing boats out today
  • I have a group of students staying in the student house tonight

Ecological

  • still a dozen elephant seals, one male among them
  • looks like the sea otter was out in the kelp again today, I can only tell because ecotour boats kept circling the kelp patch

Other

  • Fog horn started going off at 1am last night and continued until maybe 7 this morning

Ecological

  • about a dozen elephants, quite a few different birds and not a lot of sea lions about today
  • a possible sea otter in the north kelp bed but I couldn’t see it, but there were boats circling around there
  • saw an oyster catcher nest as well
