  • a few ecotours went by today
  • Guy came by today with a few others

Ecological

  • about 10 elephants all together, most female, one is a young male that is sticking around
  • I think the geese are done nesting now, I hope they are
  • The gulls are starting to build their nests but I don’t expect them to really start nesting for another few weeks

  • there were quite a few californias on the jetty
  • there is one young male in the about 9 elephant seals, photos included

Boats/Visitors

  • many ecotours driving by today
  • no visitors today but I think guy is coming by tomorrow to help me fuel up the generator

Ecological

  • it looked like the sea otter was in the kelp bed again today, a bit hard to tell from here
  • one of the younger female elephant seals almost looks like one of the babies because of the colouring, but I’m not sure because she looks a bit big to be only 3 months old
  • also I think there is a young male on island, the nose looks a little protruded but not enough to be sure, it might just be a large female

  • Guy picked up the visitors from lastnight and a dropped off a new group of overnight visitors

  • Guy, dropped off a group of 8 students and 1 chaperone from Pearson College for a little overnight trip

  • Seems to be less sea lions lately, and only about 9 elephants

  • quite a few ecotours went by today
  • Guy brought some people by to work on the coastal radar system and he also brought some students from the college for a tour

  • 10 adult female elephant seals, all lying around the front yard today soaking in the sun

  • Water: a bit choppy in the afternoon, under a metre

Boats/Visitors

  • plenty of boat traffic today, ecotours, fishing, sailboats
  • a group of the marine science students came by for a bit today,  I think they are getting ready for their final exam

Ecological

  • about 11 mature female elephants seals around, mostly gathered by the desal building and the others by the jetty
  • the second pup left this morning which was to be expected she is 3 months old and a couple days
