Another large male elephant seal showed up today, he might’ve been the one that was here a couple weeks ago but he is the only new one since the pup has been born, he looks almost as large as the biggest male who has been sticking around mom and pup

also Kyle, Jeff and Jake brought some new batteries for the battery bank that keeps this island powered, had to start up the crane and maneuver around a stubborn elephant seal to get the batteries where they needed to be

The mature male elephant seal is staying near the pup and mother
Saw one of the 3 juvenile males around but the other two were somewhere else today, didn’t even see them when I went to do the water sample by the jetty
Notes
had some beautiful sunrises and sunsets lately so I haven’t had to run the generator as much

The pup seems to be doing well, the largest male is staying near the mom and pup and is chasing the 3 smaller males off when they get too close
There appears to be a small female sea lion, stellar by the colouring by the jetty that doesn’t appear to be doing too well

There were a couple boats around

The only female elephant seal on the island had her pup this morning
the 4 male elephant seals have been very curious about it
The largest male has chased off the other 3 males anytime they get close to the female
The pup has almost been trampled a few times, so I guess we will see how it is doing tomorrow
